Thinking of You on Your Birthday

Annabelle stamps October challenge - ac 172 (Link here)

I made this card for someone who will be having a birthday soon, but sadly has very little reason to feel celebratory. I just want her to know I'm thinking about her while acknowledging the passing of her anniversary. I hope the card achieves this rather forlorn outcome.

Here is my take on this month's challenge sketch, using techniques used at the Insider Card workshop...better put some of them to use.

I'm never sure about sketch challenges...if you don't interpret the sketch pretty accurately then it's just a free for all and you really don't need a sketch at all, but is interpreting it accurately just laziness or lack of an artistic mind...who knows...I'd better stop thinking about it and just get on with it!

Here is the outside of the card...following the sketch parameters and keeping things fairly subdued. I used a window die to cut the opening, backing it with a piece of transparent film. This gave me something to adhere the window frame to.

I stamped the image from annabelle stamp's Remember When in Versamark on watercolour paper and embossed it in annabelle's ebony embossing powder.
I coloured the image with Derwent Inktense pencils and water coloured them in.
Drew the tiny bow and coloured it with a couple of Copics, cut it out.
I made the little banner and stamped the tiny Happy Birthday sentiment from the same stamp set, and also the larger sentiment (from PTI's Stylish Sentiments: Birthdays) in Memento Tuxedo Black.

To tidy up the back side of the card front, which had the sheet of transparency, back of the window frame and all the adhesive showing, I cut a piece of white brick image paper from the Kaisercraft Base Coat 61/2 paper pad, reversed the die cutting (this took some thinking about to get the placement right) and then I adhered a white window frame to cover all the remaining evidence!

I hope this card works, I might change the idea a bit before I give the card, as she loves green in all it's forms, so I might just have to do a second version, just greening it up a tad.

Thanks for looking,
Di
